So Much Music, So Little Time

Welcome to my first post! I've been thinking about starting this blog for quite a long time. I listen to a lot of music, and I often lament that there is so much music, and not enough time to hear it all.

I enjoy listening to music I already love, but it's nice to discover "new" old music too. What is your favorite group? Favorite song? Favorite genre? The topics we can discuss are unlimited.

I almost don't know where to start. I haven't figured out exactly how I will format this blog, I think I will just write what inspires me on a given day. And that usually stems with what I'm listening to.

Things have sure changed in music accessibility since the internet came in. I remember how hard it used to be to find an obscure song or "45", or even an album. It was so gratifying to be able to either find a friend who had the song and could tape it for you, or search for it among the collector magazines like Goldmine and DISCoveries. Even better to find it at a yard sale, thrift shop, or the record store!! Going to Cambridge to explore all the used record stores was something I only did once, but it sure was fun.  We did order lots of records that were on our wish list through the mail. I miss those days.

But there's something to be said for how accessible music is to everybody now, free to enjoy on streaming services and YouTube. It was quite a novelty at first. My dad could mention some super rare song that surfaced from his memory bank, and ten seconds later I could have the song playing. It was like magic.

The majority of my musical knowledge and appreciation is because of my dad. I am dedicating this blog to him.

What were some of your most sought after records, and how did you find them? Tell me your favorite musical memories!

Here is one of my all time favorite songs, "To Love Somebody" by The Bee Gees. I didn't preview the video first, so I'm not sure if this is a live clip or a lip sync. Until next time, be sure to take the time to enjoy your favorite music!!
