They Don't Make Songs Like This Anymore!
Every so often you can hear a song or an artist from a long time ago. And it transports you back in time. How about Johnny Mathis? He was amazing, and so was the "sound" he had in all those old recordings. How can you resist that lush orchestra, reminiscent of Nat King Cole? Johnny Mathis was a great singer too. My personal favorite of his songs is "It's Not For Me To Say". The tickling of the piano keys is very appealing to me for some reason. I went online to try and find out who was playing the piano. I found out quite a bit, but not who the piano player was. For example, the song was recorded in 1956, and released in February 1957. It peaked at number five in the US. It was written for a movie I've never heard of. "Lizzie". The music was composed by Robert Allen and the lyrics by Al Stillman. Ray Conniff 's Orchestra played in the song as well.
